Derrick Evans

An interview with Derrick Evans, a historian who studied and taught civil rights history at Boston College. Evans recounts the early experiences of his mentor, Amanda Verdell Houston (1926-1995), who was born and raised in Lower Roxbury. Houston served as the Black Studies Program Director at Boston College and played an active role in social and economic programs that helped economically disadvantaged women pursue higher education. This interview was collected as part of Northeastern University's Lower Roxbury Black History Project (2007-2009). Finding aid: http://www.library.neu.edu/archives/collect/findaids/m165find.htm
